[ ]About Finger Lakes Finest Thoroughbreds
Finger Lakes Finest Thoroughbreds provides a listing service to Finger Lakes Race Track trainers to advertise their horses for sale. These horses are not rescues but thoroughbreds who are ready to retire from racing and move on to new careers. They are for sale by their trainers through this service. Horses are listed as represented by their trainers and Finger Lakes Finest Thoroughbreds makes no warranties either explicit or implied of any nature whatsoever.

We cooperate with the Finger Lakes Thoroughbred Adoption Center but we are a separate entity. Please do not contact the adoption center with any questions about horses listed on this forum, since the adoption center will not know the information you seek. The two groups are not affiliated beyond a goal to find second homes for as many former racehorses as possible from the Finger Lakes track.

There are many fine horses from Finger Lakes for adoption at Finger Lakes Thoroughbred Adoption Center. Please take a moment to view them at http://fingerlakestap.org/.

[ ]How You Can Own a Finest
If you are interested in a horse on the list, please call the trainer’s phone number to make an appointment. You will not be able to get access to the track without an appointment. If you cannot keep your appointment or will be late please call the trainer. No shows are very disruptive to trainers and discourage them from listing their horses.

Once your meeting begins be considerate of the time you take to view horses. Be thorough, ask questions and watch the horse move, but also use your time with the trainer efficiently.

And remember, we cannot guarantee the soundness of any horse on the listing; a pre-purchase exam is always recommended.

[ ]Don't Forget to Vet Your Potential Finger Lakes Finest!
I want to remind everyone that for every horse at Finger Lakes the word "sound" has about 50 different meanings. People tend to have different definitions of soundness because most have learned their own version of "sound" through their daily experiences and not through direct instruction in vet school. So please, before totally comitting your heart and finances to a horse have him vetted.

Also, be very careful to describe to the vet how you plan to use him. Don't just say fox hunting, say "I hunt in front and condition my horse to gallop four miles over rough terrain and jump 3'." Or, "I focus on dressage and want to be able to develop my horse's topline. The horse must be able to move from his hind end but I will never gallop this horse." Or, "I plan to jump 3'6" and must be able to turn on a dime."

We sincerely want you to find the best Finest for your sport. I know he or she is out there waiting for you.
